Team EnVyUs Add High Profile Name to Dallas Overwatch League Team

The Team EnVyUs organization has announced the addition of Brandon ‘Seagull’ Larned to their Dallas roster ahead of the Overwatch League. The addition was first teased with a short video released on September 23rd, which was shortly followed up with an official announcement. The move is pending approval The move is pending approval from the Overwatch League (OWL), in which EnVyUs own the Dallas spot. Pre-season for the first season of the league is due to kick off December 6th, with the inaugural season beginning in earnest January 10th 2018. In a plot twist to conventional esports leagues, the OWL will see franchised teams across the US, Europe and Asia, competing eventually from their hometown arena when fully operational. Each spot has cost $20 million, with various endemic esports organizations finding financial support, whilst other teams have been created independently with a number of high-profile sports teams owners stumping up the cash. - A former professional Team Fortress 2 player, Seagull was an early adopter of Overwatch, starting to stream during the early days of the beta, and has since become one of the most popular players in the world. As well as building a massive following, Seagull also became known as one of the top players in North America, versatile but perhaps at his most dangerous on projectile-based heroes such as Genji and Pharah. He has recently been absent from competition, stepping down from NRG Esports following lacklustre results, but has remained one of the most high-profile free agents in anticipation of the Overwatch League. The EnVyUs Overwatch team has often been considered the best team in the world, and though they’ve perhaps lost that title of late to the rise of Korean squads, they remain one of the most dangerous teams in the west. As well as being one of the most popular and successful teams in the game, EnVy has notably lacked an elite projectile DPS player since the departure of Ronnie ‘Talespin’ DuPree from the squad, making Seagull a perfect candidate to add to the roster.

EnVyUs owner Mike ‘Hastr0’ Rufail has confirmed on Twitter that the team do not intend to replace anyone on the current squad, but instead rotate the starting roster according to strategy for any given map or series. While streaming, Seagull commented on his decision to join EnVyUs, unsurprisingly stating that he had been offered positions with many teams. He stated that although the decision was one of the hardest of his life, it ultimately came down to factors such as cultural fit, and the team's current roster. Team EnVyUs Overwatch squad:
