Swedish CS:GO Star Dennis Joins NiP as Legendary Player Steps Down

It's the end of an era for one of the most successful teams in Counter-Strike history as Richard 'Xizt' Landström has been replaced by Dennis 'dennis' Edman in Ninjas in Pyjamas. NiP were the original dynasty in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as they dominated the early stages of the game with an astonishing 87-0 record on LAN.

They would also go on to win a Major at ESL One Cologne 2014 before Robin 'Fifflaren' Johansson decided to retire in November of that year. The remaining core would stick together for a long period of time and bag numerous other top finishes at premier international tournaments until Adam 'friberg' Friberg stepped down in July 2017, leaving just the three former Counter-Strike 1.6 pros remaining. In 2018 NiP had a rather inconsistent season but showed that they still had what it takes to win when they shocked the world's top teams at IEM Oakland for the second year in a row.

However, they didn't qualify for the ELEAGUE Boston Major and most recently finished in last place at cs_summit 2 amidst numerous roster rumors that involved the former Fnatic and GODSENT star, dennis. On February 13th NiP's in-game leader of over five years, Xizt, was revealed as the player stepping down from the active roster as dennis joined the ranks of the Swedish team.   dennis hasn't been seen in action since his dominant stand-in performance for Astralis.   Known for his unbelievable pistol round skills, dennis is an upgrade over Xizt in almost every aspect on an individual level, but some of the nuances that Xizt brought to the roster may not have been so quantifiable. Initial reports about this move being a possibility suggested that dennis would slot into the team as a player and that Patrik 'f0rest' Lindberg would be taking over the in-game leadership responsibilities. However, the Swede revealed in a short interview with betway that he will be taking on the leadership role despite previously stating that he does not wish to do it in the future. He will be looking to continue the form that he displayed at the BLAST Pro Series event in Denmark where he had a stellar performance as a stand-in for Astralis. The Ninjas in Pyjamas CS:GO roster now consists of:
  •  Patrik 'f0rest' Lindberg
  •  Christopher 'GeT_RiGhT' Alesund
  •  Fredrik 'REZ' Sterner
  •  William 'draken' Sundin
  •  Dennis 'dennis' Edman
  •  Faruk 'pita' Pita (coach)
  •  Richard 'Xizt' Landström (substitute)
