Renegades Eliminated Early on Day 2 of CWL New Orleans

The 14th overall seed in open bracket at CWL New Orleans, the British squad of Renegades, failed to impress and were eliminated in top 64, after defeat to fellow Europeans Overtime Esports. The Renegades roster of Jordan "Reedy" Reed, Josh "Watson" Watson, Gurdip "SunnyB" Bains and Shane "ShAnE" McKerral, had a decent start to the tournament on Friday but failed to carry the momentum into their Saturday matches. ShAnE joined the roster early in the WWII season, replacing Jake "Jake" Dalton, and the team managed top 28 from the open bracket at CWL Dallas. With more practice coming into CWL New Orleans, the team would have expected to perform much better. After losing their winners round 3 match up against CyberStorm, they fell to the loser's bracket, where they defeated both Kong Esports and Gone Gaming. Read More: However, this is where their run would end, as they fell 2-0 to Overtime, the 13th overall seed in open bracket, who consist of Belgians Bjarne "Denz" Sleebus and Robbe "Nevo" Dhondt, Finnish player Aleski "Gefkid" Viitala and Sweden's Emil "Yohanson" Johnsson. The defeat left Renegades with a dysmal top 64 placing, putting an end to any distant hopes that they could qualify for the Pro League with a strong placing at the event. Next up for the squad will likely be entry to CWL National Circuit, which will begin January 26th, and victory will grant entry to stage 2 of the Pro League. However, after two poor showings, and this particularly low placing at the second event, there is a possibility that European teams not in the Pro League will shuffle their rosters ahead the National Circuit, starting later this month.
