NRG eSports Sell LCS Challenger Spot

The NRG eSports organisation are well known for their celebrity investors and previously spending big to get noticed.

In a first for the North American owned operation, NRG will be selling their Challenge LCS spot after being relegated at the end of the LCS Spring season.

The spot has been sold to company called J2K Esports and Technology, and will operate under the title of Gold Coin United. At present there are no players currently signed after the relegated team were released from their contracts.

NRG president Brett Lautenbach in a press release:

“Whilst this was a difficult decision to make, ultimately we wanted to focus our efforts on key titles outside of League of Legends. We have the highest level of commitment to our current rosters and want to give them all the attention they deserve. 

We wish J2K well in Challenger. To our League of Legends fans, thank you for all of your support. We look forward to one day fielding a roster you will be proud of.”
