North American Rivals Echo Fox and eUnited Lock Horns in Opening CWL New Orleans Match

CWL New Orleans

Pool D

Echo Fox: Saints, AquA, Faccento, Assault

 eUnited: Clayster, Prestinni, Arcitys, SiLLY

The first main stage match of CWL New Orleans did not disappoint, as two of the best North American rosters eUnited and Echo Fox faced off in the curtain raiser. Despite a brutal map one from Echo Fox, putting eUnited into the 100 point club, eU, lead by veteran James "Clayster" Eubanks, bounced back, taking the series 3-1.

The map 1 hardpoint kicked off CWL New Orleans main stage action with an emphatic victory for Echo Fox, dismantling eUnited on London Docks. Faccento impressive slaying performance earned him streaks which ultimately put the map well out of reach for Clayster and Co. Placing them in the 100 point club in the first map of the headline series, eUnited would need to prove that it was just a slow start to the tournament. In the Search and Destroy on USS Texas, eUnited did just that. Despite giving away a couple of early rounds, impressive sniping from both Silly and Arcitys allowed them to regain control of bombsites, preventing Echo Fox from getting into comfortable setups. Thanks to a rounded team performance, eUnited indicated that the first map may have just been a case of early tournament coldness. Back on London Docks for Capture the Flag, eUnited were clearly more comfortably, and any roughness from the first map had been shaken off, taking a strong 4-0 lead at the half, with Echo Fox only barely putting up any dangerous offensive pushes. Following a near perfect first half, Echo Fox looked out of the match, with all players negative in kills and deaths. Saints did manage to capture one flag, but it was quickly cancelled out by Prestinni's counter capture. Echo Fox did manage another consolation capture, but time was far too short to allow for a comeback. The veteran leader of eUnited, Clayster, took control in the fourth map, hardpoint on Gibraltar. A map pick of Echo Fox, eUnited proved they too could play on the notoriously unfavored map. Clayster, who began the map in dominant fashion, triple positive at some points during the map, showing that his team allows him to play freely while they attack the hardpoint. Echo Fox showed some signs of life, but much of it too little to late. eUnited's final set up proved too strong, with Clayster putting the flamethrower streak to perfect use.
