Michael Condrey Reveals Plans to Update Shotguns in Call of Duty: WWII

Sledgehammer Games’ Michael Condrey has made a reddit post revealing some planned and upcoming changes to Call of Duty: WWII, including a number of changes to shotguns.

The strength of shotguns in the latest CoD title, WWII, have been a point of contention in recent weeks, particularly within the casual community.

Many players believe that certain shotguns, like the Combat Shotgun, needed to be nerfed due to their effectiveness at long range.

However, others have asked to see improvements to the likes of the M21 Swaed-Off in order to make it viable in more scenarios.

The Combat Shotgun’s effectiveness at range has caused players to call for a nerf.

On January 11th Michael Condrey revealed that the Call of Duty: WWII team is working on a number of changes to shotguns and the Expeditionary Force via a Reddit post.

The chief operating and development officer of Sledgehammer Games spoke about making these changes to the Combat Shotgun and M21 Sawed-Off:

  • Nerf the range of the Combat Shotgun (nerf by -20), so it will be net +30 range
  • Buff to the M21 Sawed-Off Shotgun [testing out a buff to range and/or reload to help this weapon be more competitive within the primaries]

Condrey states that Sledgehammer are “close to the sweet spot” but reminds players and fans that trying to balance weapons is “a matter of micro changes” in order to get them correct.

He concludes by stating that there are a number of other possible changes being considered and/or in the works, promising that the developers will do their best to keep everyone updated.
