After the close of the Pools, Luminosity just seemed like a different beast. En route to the title, Luminosity took down OpTic Gaming, Evil Geniuses, Epsilon, and finally Splyce.
Only weeks ago, Luminosity fell at the hands of Splyce after battling through the Loser Bracket for a shot at the title.
This time out, LG seemed to elevate their game a step further. Octane has raised his game to new heights and after trailing only MVP Zer0 in Columbus, this time took home the individual accolade after again leading his team in kill/death ratio.
For Octane, it’s his killing efficiency that needs to be commended the most. On average, Octane slays less than his Splyce counterpart, Zer0, but this weekend he was far better at staying alive – persistently causing problems for Splyce.
But this was by no means an individual effort. Saints, who was rumored to be on the chopping block if only Luminosity could find a team to shift him to, was one of the standout players of the competition. The player brought on to help Luminosity win titles, helped them win a Major title.
Slacked and Classic also had an outstanding competition in their own right. The entire team went positive in the K/D department and that was key to Luminosity’s success this weekend – simply put, teams could live with their gun skill and slaying power.
