G FUEL Amateur CoD Spotlight: Dashy

The talents of Brandon ‘Dashy’ Otell have largely been confined to Search and Destroy tournaments so far in the young player’s career.

The 18 year old from the Canadian capital of Ottawa has won a number of the big S&D tournaments but is now trying his hand at the full on competitive pro scene.

Teaming up with Chris ‘Parasite’ Duarte, the Black Ops II world champion was very complimentary of the player who helped his pickup team win the online CWL 2K on Sunday May 14th.

In order to find out a bit more about this up and coming star, we’ve put him under the G FUEL Amateur CoD Spotlight.

My name is Brandon Otell and I’m 18 years old. I just finished high school and I live in Ottawa, Ontario in Canada.

I’ve been competing in the variant scene for only a month and a half, but I’ve just won the MLG 2K series on Sunday May 14th. So far in my S&D career, I’ve won a few big tournaments, including the 10K prime on IW. I also have other achievements on Black Ops 3.

I don’t really think I┬áhave a specific role on my team or in my playstyle. I feel like I can do anything that needs to be done in order to win, and I feel like I’m a pretty easy guy to get along with too.

My next step is to compete at a LAN event in the near future and hopefully place well. I’m hoping I can do something with esports in the future.

I would probably say that my biggest challenge would be getting my name out there, because I know I can compete with the best but sometimes it’s just not as easy as that.

I’m giving myself a fair few years in order to give this a real shot because I believe I can be at the top.

A way to help the amateur scene, in general, would just be more support from tournament organisers and Activision/MLG.

My family was a little sceptical at first about me spending so much time playing and learning about the competitive world, but at the moment they’re ok with it.

In general my friends think it’s really cool that I make money from competing in S&D tournaments and they’re all supportive about it.

I’m a really big fan of OpTic’s FormaL and Enigma6’s General, just because I feel like they can do anything on their team in order to succeed.

I’d love to team alongside both players if I had the opportunity because I feel like we’re all really talented players that will do any role.
