Fortnite Has Been Nominated for a Webby Award and It Doesn’t Have Much Competition

The insane popularity of Fortnite has resulted in the title being nominated for a Webby Award.

The annual celebration of all things internet is presented annually by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, which comprises of two thousand industry experts and tech innovators as the judging panel.

Each category has two winners, one being decided by the panel and one by the public for what the New York Times called the Internet’s highest honor.

Taking place at the Cipriani Wall Street in New York on May 14, Saturday Night Live writer and comedian Ambur Ruff is expected to host the ceremony.

Fortnite has been nominated for the Best Multiplayer/Competitive Game in a category that it is expected to run away with, especially in the public vote.

Going up against Overwatch, Hero Academy 2, Hearthstone and Pyre, the popularity of Fortnite will make it the bookies favorite.

Epic Games released Fortnite in early 2017 but it was only when they launched their Battle Royale mode in September that year that it took off.

Since the turn of 2018 it has become the most talked about game on the planet, and one of the most watched as it continues to break records, including Twitch’s most-viewed game ever in March, breaking a LoL record held since 2016.

If you’d like to vote for any of the fives games, head over to the Webby website for more details and voting options.
