Denial Esports are the latest team to bring a traditional sports player in esports, with former NFL player Hank Baskett becoming a co-owner of the team.
During his NFL career between 2006 and 2010, Baskett played a total of 65 games, representing the Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings and Indianapolis Colts. Also joining as co-owner is investor Stephen A. Crystal.
Denial currently field rosters in a range of games including Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Overwatch and Rocket League, though are perhaps best known for their victory at the 2015 Call of Duty Championships.
Baskett joins the ever-growing list of traditional sports players who have taken not only a personal but a financial interest in esports, including NFL player and Rise Nation owner Rodger Saffold, and NBA stars Rick Fox and Shaquille O’Neal, owner of Echo Fox and investor in NRG Esports respectively.
Baskett and Crystal will co-own the team alongside Denial CEO Robby Ringnalda.
