FC Copenhagen Announce Dignitas CS:GO Team Under New Brand

One of the biggest Football Club’s in Denmark have confirmed their arrival into esports, picking up the former Team Dignitas CS:GO squad.

The announcement by FC Copenhagen was expected, with rumours circulating immediately when Dignitas revealed the team had not renewed their contracts. In a slight twist, rather than using their current branding, the club will be creating a new name to go under title, named North.

FC Copenhagen join other big traditional sports clubs who’ve joined the esports race, including FC Schalke, Valencia and Paris Saint Germain. Although the CS:GO squad are the first step, the North brand do have plans to expand into other titles, however have stated they are not currently interested in League of Legends due to the current structure.

The new North CS:GO team rose to prominence in 2016 to become one of the teams considered elite tier, winning the EPICENTER tournament in Moscow over Virtus Pro in October, taking home a $250,000 first place prize.
