Esports Organization FaZe Clan have teamed up with one of the most popular soccer (football) teams in Poland, Legia Warsaw, and their Counter-Strike team are donning special one off jersey's for the occasion at IEM Katowice.
FaZe's European roster are currently at the Semi-Final stage of the tournament, and will face off against Danish team Astralis for a spot in the grand final, where there is $250,000 up for grabs for the winner.
The 2018 IEM Katowice event has attracted lots of attention worldwide, with hundreds of thousands tuning in online, in addition to a massive crowd filling up the Spodek arena's 11,000+ capacity.
In another collaboration between esports and traditional sports, Legia Warsaw and FaZe have partnered up, each boosting each other's profile to their respective fans.
FaZe posted an image of their world class roster kitted out in all new jersey's, ditching the black and red typically adorned for lighter colors similar to the Polish team's kit.
Legia Warsaw also put out a video segment on their own Twitter page, was has been well received by their loyal fan base, despite the many likely having little interest in esports prior.
From an esports perspective, this is a great partnership that should go some way to raising the profile of competitive gaming in Europe, although Poland is one of the countries with one of the most dedicated Counter-Strike followings in the world, exemplified by the excellent turnout at the event.
FaZe certainly have large portions of that huge crowd behind them, as this video, reminiscent of a football ground, proves.
FaZe will take on Astralis at 4pm local time on Saturday March 3rd, with the other semi final between Team Liquid and Fnatic taking place after. The grand final will be played out on Sunday March 4th.
