eUnited Crush Rise Nation's Playoff Hopes With a Sweep on Day Two of Group Yellow

Rise Nation are out of the running for a Stage Two Playoff spot following a second loss to eUnited. The squad were hoping to take the opportunity to climb out of a slump that has been dragging them down since their victory at CWL Vegas to kick off the year, but having failed to win a series after two days of play in Group Yellow, their playoff ambitions are now over.

It was eUnited that with little fan-fair put the final nail in Rise Nation’s coffin. Rise needed a victory in order to keep any possibility alive, but unlike in their first match, eUnited never even gave them much chance. A 250-135 Hardpoint in eUnited’s favor kicked off the series, before a convincing 6-1 Breakout SnD extended their lead. Rise would offer a little more resistance on Precinct Uplink, but in the end it was still too little. eUnited took the map 10-9, completing the 3-0 and crushing any hopes Rise had left of reaching the playoffs. eUnited end day two tied in series record with Splyce at 3-1, although with the edge in map count. Both squads are poised to tie up playoff spots, but for eUnited particularly the danger is not over yet. With rematches with Splyce and Red still to play, the squad are by no means safe – although just one win should suffice to see them through. Rise, meanwhile, now have only the Call of Duty Championships to look to as their last chance to end a largely disappointing season on a high note.
