ESWC Announce European CoD World League Event on French Television

The first European event for the CoD World League has been announced by French tournament organiser, ESWC.

The Esports World Convention revealed a total of five events across the year, but only the Winter competition between February 17th to 19th is confirmed as having Call of Duty Infinite Warfare as one of the four tournaments alongside Just Dance, Clash Royale and League of Legends.

ESWC have hosted four successful internationally attended Call of Duty events, with the first in 2013 when compLexity took the title on Black Ops 2. Evil Geniuses took 2014 and OpTic Gaming won the event in 2015 and 2016, making Ian ‘Crimsix’ Porter a four time champion. The February competition will take place just 4 days after MLG Atlanta’s CWL event.

The initial announcement regarding the tournaments was televised via the BeIN Sports TV channel, with no official statement being made at the time of writing by ESWC or the CoD World League.

No further details have been released regarding the tournament format, which international teams will be invited (if any) or whether the remaining events across the year will also have a Call of Duty focus. The company was heavily rumoured to be running CWL events for Europe for Infinite Warfare.

Whilst four of the five events are based in France or Germany, the company have also announced an event in Brazil for November. We’ll provide updates once made official.
