EGL Hosting CoD World League Event in Sheffield

The European Gaming League will return for 2017 with a new CoD World League event, hosted in Sheffield, England.

Announced by Activision for their 2017 plans, the event has been revealed alongside ESWC Paris, Gfinity London and Multiplay’s Birmingham event.

The $25,000 EGL tournament will feature a team cap of 64 teams, with 12 teams automatically placed into pool play by via pro points. It will be open only to EU teams. There will be 38,000 pro points also on offer.

It will take place at the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield between June 24th and 25th, with a cutoff date for pool play on the 12th of June.

The venue has hosted previous Call of Duty events, with EGL10 in 2013 and EGL12 in 2014. Both events were won by teams involving current Splyce player, Josh ‘Joshh’ Shepherd.


With the addition of the EGL Sheffield Open, it brings the total of 4 European events currently announced across 2017.
