Dallas Fuel’s Taimou Opens Up About Mentality Struggles

Dallas Fuel’s Timo ‘Taimou’ Kettunen has revealed some of his recent struggles with mentality.

In the early days of Overwatch, Taimou was among the most high-profile players accused of hacking in the game. He was accused of cheating so much that when he joined Team Envy, owner Mike ‘Hastr0’ Rufail personally built a clean PC and had Taimou play under supervision to confirm absolutely that he wasn’t cheating.

Once the accusations had largely subsided, Taimou became recognized as one of the most skilled and impactful hitscan DPS players in the world. Not unlike New York Excelsior’s Kim ‘Pine’ Do-hyeon today, Taimou was also at times a walking highlight reel on McCree and Widowmaker.

Unfortunately, that version of Taimou never really materialized in the Overwatch League. Instead, he’s struggled both in-game and in his confidence in his own abilities, which undoubtedly was partly responsible for his short-lived decision to role-swap to main tank during Stage 2.

It has since been confirmed that Taimou has switched back to playing DPS, and with Kim ‘Rascal’ Dong-jun having been released from the team and Brandon ‘Seagull’ Larned swapping to playing off-tank, it seems Taimou will have to bear a significant amount of the DPS burden if the team is to return to strength.

In the wake Dallas Fuel announcing the release of Rascal and head coach Kyle ‘KyKy’ Souder, Taimou took to Twitter to discuss some of the mentality issues that have been holding him back.

The Dallas Fuel currently sits at a 1-3 record in Stage 3 of the Overwatch League, putting them in eighth place based on map difference after two weeks of play.
