The Dallas Fuel are reportedly looking to sign London Spitfire DPS player Kim ‘Rascal’ Dong-jun.
According to a report by ESPN, the two teams are in negotiations for the transfer of the player ahead of Stage 2 of the Overwatch League, which kicks off on February 21st.
The Dallas Fuel haven’t had a particularly successful start to the season. Having entered with high expectations the team struggled to get going, ultimately finishing the first stage in tenth place at a 3-7 match record.
London Spitfire, on the other hand, had a very successful first stage. Though they ended the regular season matches in third, they were able to win the Stage 1 title in the playoff matches. Rascal was a part of the win, subbing in for a crucial Numbani when the Spitfire were down 1-2 against New York Excelsior in the final.
Rascal has seen limited play-time so far under London Spitfire, but that’s hardly an indictment of his talent. Boasting two other DPS players who might each be candidates for the best player in the world, London is perhaps the only squad on which Rascal, supremely skilled in his own right, wouldn’t starter material by default.
Rascal isn’t the only potential pick-up the Dallas Fuel have been linked to, nor even the only DPS. The team previously confirmed that they were pursuing former Rogue DPS Dylan ‘aKm’ Bignet, now a free agent. According to ESPN, aKm has now been signed.
If the move goes through, the Fuel will have the most extensive DPS roster in the league, with aKm and Rascal joining Timo ‘Taimou’ Kettunen, Hwang ‘Effect’ Hyeon, and Brandon ‘Seagull’ Larned.
Dallas Fuel owner and CEO Mike ‘Hastr0’ Rufail confirmed that the organization were in negotiations for the acquisition of Rascal.
