CWL commentator Jack ‘CouRage’ Dunlop and OpTic Gaming producer Davis ‘Hitch’ Edwards provide a recap of the first weekend of the Scuf Gaming BOTG Throwback Series on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
Put together by the two personalities during the ‘offseason’ between Infinite Warfare and the release of CoD: WWII in early November, the BOTG Throwback Series is a set of three tournaments on past titles in the franchise.
With a prize pool of over $6,000 between the three weekends, the main purpose of the event is to raise a goal of $20,000 from various donations for a cancer prevention charity.
The entire event has been sponsored by Scuf Gaming, a gaming controller company that has become one of the most recognized brands throughout all of CoD esports for their custom controller designs, used by a large majority of professional and amateur players.
As the first game in the rotation, the Modern Warfare 2 tournament saw 16 teams competing for a prize pool of $1,50, with the Executive Decisions squad of Austin ‘Slasher’ Liddicoat, Nick ‘Happy’ Suda, Donny ‘Temp’ Laroda, and Nick ‘Classic’ DiCostanzo taking home first place.
Following the event, CouRage, and Hitch uploaded a video from the OpTic-Scuf house in Chicago, Illinois to break down the weekend and give their thoughts on the future installations to the Series.
Along with their comments, they included a collection of the best highlights from a variety of matches played across different game modes, including notable fails by some of the most recognized names in the community.
The next competition will take place on Saturday, October 14th with Modern Warfare 3 for a prize pool of $1,500.
