The developers behind Fortnite want their incredibly popular title to be fully cross-platform, but it appears there is a stumbling block.
Epic Games announced they'd be launching their popular Battle Royale game mode on mobile and as a result, allowing cross-platform between PC, Mobile and PS4 or Xbox.
Unfortunately for console Fortnite fans, the connection between PS4 and Xbox has been denied and it'll be impossible to join a game on a different console, despite having almost identical inputs via handheld pads, and as a result having the least skill gap between the top players.
It appears the decision is a political one with both the Fortnite devs and the head of Xbox (Phil Spencer) both wanting to see it happen.
Dexerto.com have teamed up with Fortnite Insider to launch a petition to allow PS4 and Xbox One players to compete together. Want involved? Click the link below!
"Epic Games and Microsoft, developer and manufacturer of Fortnite and the Xbox video-games console respectively, have both shown a willingness to allow Xbox and Playstation owners to play Fortnite against each other online. To date, Playstation manufacturer Sony has yet to comment or show support for the idea. Cross-platform is already allowed between mobile, PC and Xbox or Playstation players, therefore proving there are no system limitations preventing this from happening."
