The final day of CWL Anaheim kicked off with a bang as four teams were eliminated by 11am.
The $200,000 tournament started on Friday June 16th with 113 teams, but at the start of Sunday there was only 16 left and everything still to play for.
Aside from the winner bracket matchup between Epsilon and Splyce on the main stage, there was four loser bracket round 3 matches, with the losers taking home top 12, whilst the winners advance to play for top 6.
OpTic Gaming came into Championship Sunday after a tough loss to Luminosity in the winner bracket the night before, but they made sure they didn’t falter against Rise Nation, sending them packing with a swift 3-0.
Team Kaliber had surprised everyone by breaking out of the open loser bracket and after going 2-1 up against the impressive Enigma6, everything looked to be going swimmingly. Unfortunately for tK fans, they lost the second Hardpoint and proceeded to lose round 11 to be eliminated in top 12.
The European squad of Red Reserve showed they’re a totally new team with Rhys ‘Rated’ Price on board, ending an impressive tournament for BitterSweet with a 3-1 win.
Finally, Patrick ‘Aches’ Price and his new look Cloud9 team took down a weakened eUnited 3-1 to continue their loser bracket run.
OpTic Gaming now face Enigma6 and Cloud9 face Red to decide who’ll place 7th/8th.
