The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask is a crucial part of Zelda’s history, and we reckon it’s still worth playing even in 2024. Here’s how you can enjoy the timeless classic on modern systems.

Majora’s Mask is popular among Zelda fans for its darker tone compared to Ocarina of Time. The unique three-day cycle and mask mechanics were important in giving the title its unique legacy, resulting in a well-respected release that is still discussed today.

Whether you’re new to the Zelda franchise or have been a fan for a long time, here’s how we would recommend playing Majora’s Mask in 2024.

While Nintendo has not made Majora’s Mask available for individual purchase, the best method to play the game in 2024 is on Switch through the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service.

Subscribing to this service grants access to a bunch of classic Nintendo 64 games, including Majora’s Mask, allowing you to enjoy it on a modern console. It also has a selection of other Legend of Zelda games on there, such as Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past.

If you’re a 3DS owner, you may also consider The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D. This remastered version has better graphics and modernized gameplay, while still retaining that classic vibe. While the 3DS eShop closed down last year, it’s still possible to hunt down a physical copy and play that way.

And that’s all we know about how to play Majora’s Mask in 2024. Check out our other Legend of Zelda content, including our review for Tears of the Kingdom.
