Riot Games, the developer behind the massively popular League of Legends, has hit an incredible milestone on Twitch, becoming the first channel in history to hit one billion views.
League of Legends is one of the most popular games to have ever been created and has one of the biggest, and most passionate, esports followings on the planet.
The main “Riot Games” Twitch channel is the most popular source for the English broadcasts of that esports action with content from the NA LCS, EU LCS, World Championship, Mid Season Invitational, and more.
This has made it one of the most popular channels on the entire streaming platform with almost three million followers and an absolutely staggering number of views.
So many views, in fact, that it has become the first channel in the history of Twitch to hit one billion total views. To put that number into perspective, it is over double the amount of Riot Games’ nearest competitor on the leaderboard.
With the NA and EU LCS both in full swing, and the 2018 World Championship still to look forward to, it seems unlikely that any other channels will be challenging Riot Games’ viewership figures any time soon.
And with rumors about the game developer working on some interesting new games, including murmurings of an FPS to challenge the likes of CS:GO and Overwatch, the future looks bright.
