Rockstar Games appear to have skipped the weekly update to GTA Online on June 17, so when can we expect the next patch to be rolled out for the game?

As GTA Online players will know, Rockstar schedules a weekly update to the game every Thursday which includes a new podium vehicle, exclusive discounts, and log-in rewards.

Although it’s very rare that a new piece of content is added in one of these updates, they do give players the chance to purchase new items and often offer bonuses for certain jobs each week.

Well, as the community waited for the regular update to launch on June 17, nothing arrived at the normal time. According to RedDeadNet, it appears Rockstar has skipped this week’s update, but with no word from the developers, why would they have chosen to pause the weekly patches?

When is GTA Online’s next update?

GTA Update skipped by Rockstar
It’s very rare for Rockstar to skip a GTA Online weekly update.

Despite skipping the June 17 weekly update, it’s likely this is a one-off occurrence rather than a permanent suspension of the patches for GTA Online.

Therefore, we expect Rockstar to roll out the next update on Thursday, June 24. If the developers decide to skip the weekly patches twice in a row, players will likely begin to demand answers from Rockstar.

Why did Rockstar skip this week’s GTA Online update?

GTA V is coming to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in November.

It’s difficult to know why Rockstar decided to skip this week’s update as the company hasn’t posted anything addressing the patch on social media.

With GTA V scheduled to be coming to the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 in November, it’s possible Rockstar needed to focus on that version of the game to hit a specific deadline.

RedDeadNet has even suggested that this pause in the updates could be a sign that DLC content is on the way for Red Dead Redemption 2.

For now, we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed that the GTA Online updates return to normal on June 24.

If they don’t, let’s hope Rockstar has got something big planned for one of their titles, DLC for GTA V or RDR2 would certainly get the community excited.
