GTA 6 Release

The anticipation of a GTA 6 announcement, let alone release, is growing with every passing month. GTA fans are now expecting a release on next generation gaming systems.

GTA 5, one of the biggest games of all time, released back in 2013. Release dates of previous GTA games suggested that a new GTA game might come at the back end of the PS4 and Xbox One life cycle. That is now almost certainly not the case.

Rockstar Job Listings

An array of programming positions are listed on the Rockstar website, which have been added since the release of Rockstar’s last major game, Red Dead Redemption 2. While this isn’t direct evidence of a GTA 6 announcement getting closer, it could certainly be something to do with it.

The positions include roles such as Senior Graphics Programmer, Senior Gameplay Programmer, Facial Animation R&D Programmer and Senior Physics Programmer.

Could these job listings be for GTA 6?

More interestingly, however, are some of the bullet points within the job descriptions themselves. One stated, “Develop new and enhance existing graphics technologies (rendering, lighting, shadows, shaders, culling, scene management and others) to help achieve state-of-the-art visuals.”

Elsewhere, another wanted, “Work with others to expand our next-generation graphics pipeline including advanced lighting and rendering techniques, and special effects.

These could be interpreted as descriptions for next generation consoles.

Gearnuke believe positions to improve facial animation tech could be suggestive of next generation projects.

GTA 6 on the PS5 or Xbox 2

If these positions are indeed for the eventual PS5 or Xbox 2, then at least this is the first step on the way to what will surely be one of the biggest releases in gaming history.

Since Red Dead Redemption 2, no other future releases have been confirmed by Rockstar. GTA 6 is of course the obvious next candidate but there are rumors also circulating of a Bully 2 game, a sequel of the popular 2006 classic.

In the meantime, GTA fans will have to continue reading rumors until an announcement is finally made.
