Kamisato Ayato is finally coming to Genshin Impact. The older brother of Ayaka and the head of the Yashiro Commission has been revealed — here’s what we know about release date, abilities, lore, and more.

After months of rumors, Ayato is finally going to be released in Genshin Impact. There’s been leaks of his existence for what feels like forever, and now it’s just a matter of time as to when miHoYo finally announces everything.

He finally got a face thanks to the Version 2.5 live stream, and now his full kit has been revealed ahead of Version 2.6.

Ayato release date in Genshin Impact

Kamisato Ayato will release as part of Genshin Impact’s Version 2.6 update, which goes live on March 30, 2022.

His banner will drop in the first half of the update alongside a Venti re-run, so be sure to prepare those Primogems and Wishes for right after the patch finishes.

Ayato abilities in Genshin Impact

Kamisato Ayato is a Hydro character that is committed to maintaining prosperity and stability in the Inazuma region. He wields a Sword with total grace, imbued with the water element in his promo art.

His normal attacks feature a six-attack string, with a long charge up between the third and fourth attack before leading into a double strike. This opens up a few windows for his combos.

However, it’s his Elemental Skill and Burst that are capturing attention. His skill, Kamisato Art: Kyouka, lets him clone himself, leaving a water illusion at his original location. The illusion will explode doing Hydro DMG, while Ayato’s attacks become faster and become imbued with the element.

However, his burst has caught the eyes of most. Named Kamisato Art: Suiyuu, he brings down a field of Hydro which periodically damages enemies and applies Hydro. Characters like Ganyu and Ayaka are just rubbing their hands at the opportunities to freeze.

Ayato’s burst is a match made in heaven for stacking AOE abilities.

Ayato, like every five-star character, will be releasing with a special weapon in Genshin Impact. Named Haran Geppaku Futsu, it buffs up his Normal Attack DMG based on how many allies used Elemental Skills recently.

This doubles down on his identity as an attack-based character given his Skill and Burst buffs to his normals.

Players will be able to roll on a weapon banner separate to Ayato’s character banner for a chance at getting Haran Geppaku Futsu.

Ayato’s Haran Geppaku Futsu will be available in a weapon banner alongside his release.

Exact details of Ayato’s banner have not been revealed, other than the fact he will be released in the first half of Version 2.6 alongside a Venti rerun.

Three four-star characters will also get a rate-up bonus on his banner. They are yet to be revealed, but we will update you when they are.

While Ayato doesn’t have a dedicated character trailer in Genshin Impact yet, a proper first look at the head of the Kamisato Clan was given during the Version 2.6 live stream.

It shows him fighting rather elegantly on the battlefield, before pulling some boba out of his sleeve. However, it doesn’t really give a full look like the six-minute trailers, so keep an eye out for that release soon.

Ayato is the head of the Kamisato Clan, which makes him one of the most powerful people in Inazuma.

With the Kamisato Clan controlling the Yashiro Commission, the organization tasked with managing cultural events in the region, being the head is no joke. His sister, Kamisato Ayaka, also helps with the commission’s affairs.

He’s known to be incredibly busy and stressed, however somehow manages to find time to hangout with someone like Arataki Itto — letting his cunning side show a bit.

His story quest, which also releases in Version 2.6, will dive into all this and more.

Ayato’s voice actors comes from various different backgrounds. English voice actor Chris Hackney is known for his work in Naruto, but has also appeared in games: most recently Horizon Forbidden West and Lost Ark.
