Combee is a little easier to find in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, so here’s how to catch it using the Grand Underground and Honey Trees to, in turn, evolve it into Vespiquen

With the introduction of the Grand Underground to Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, catching and finding ‘mon like the Bug/Flying-type Combee is a much more streamlined process – though it can still be a challenge to get one to spawn.

You’ll need to catch Combee and evolve it into Vespiquen if you wish to complete the game’s Sinnoh Pokedex, before going on to complete the National Dex after that. Whether you just want to catch ‘em all or wish to add Combee and its evolved form to your roster, you’ll want to come prepared.

Where to find Combee in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

There are two different methods of approach when trying to locate a Combee in Pokemon BDSP – the Grand Underground, or through Honey Trees.

  • In the Grand Underground, Combee can spawn in the following two biomes: Grassland Cave / Sunlit Cavern.
  • Throughout Sinnoh, Combee can be found at any of the 21 Honey Tree locations.

We’d recommend trying to utilize both methods alongside another to maximize your chances of finding a Combee spawn. To catch it via Honey Trees, follow these simple steps:

  1. Spread Honey on the side of a Honey Tree, located throughout Sinnoh.
  2. Head back off and continue to explore, and check back between 6 and 24 hours later.
  3. When the tree is shaking, you’ll be able to interact with it and potentially get a Combee spawn.

Combee evolution in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

Combee only has only evolution: Vespiquen. To evolve your ‘mon to become the Queen Bee, you’ll need to reach Level 21, where it’ll automatically evolve upon reaching that requirement.

How to evolve Combee to Vespiquen in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

To evolve Combee to Vespiquen, though, you’ll first need to ensure that they are a female Pokemon. As mentioned above, once your female Combee reaches Level 21, they’ll then automatically evolve.

Unfortunately, female Combee in the original Diamond & Pearl games only had a 12.5% encounter rate, meaning you’ll likely need to rinse and repeat the above catching method often before you’ll find one to evolve.

Honey Trees in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

Honey Trees are an integral part of locating a Combee in Pokemon BDSP, so it’s integral that you know where they all are. The relatively low spawn rate of the ‘mon can also make utilizing more than one tree essential, especially if you wish to save yourself some time.
