Arle from Puyo Puyo and Tetris in Smash Ultimate

For Super Smash Bros Ultimate fans hoping to see Arle represent Puyo Puyo as a future DLC fighter, it seems like the developers are right there alongside you.

On October 1, Nintendo shocked the world by announcing that Steve from Minecraft would be joining the already-packed cast of video game all-stars in a reveal trailer. Now, Puyo Puyo and Tetris have chimed in.

While the Minecraft reception has been lukewarm in some gaming circles, it certainly created a lot of discussion with gamers across the world voicing their take on the newest Smash fighter.

Over on Twitter, the official Puyo Puyo account simply tweeted: “*sees the Smash news from this morning*” along with a picture of Arle looking unamused.

This would seem to suggest that the developers are interested in seeing Arle appear in Smash. That said, it seems unlikely that the character will be coming in Fighters Pass Volume 2.

A user commented that the account “probably wouldn’t have gotten clearance to tweet this if Arle was in FP2,” prompting the Puyo Puyo Twitter to set the record straight.

“No one can control us Puyos, Tracker,” the Puyo Puyo account responded, indicating that they would have tweeted the image regardless of whether Arle was going to be in Smash or not.

Arle is a relatively popular character, often appearing high in fighter ballots. It’s likely that the Puyo Puyo devs are aware of the fandom surrounding Arle and want to play into that through tweets.

Elsewhere, the official Tetris Twitter account posted a humorous tweet about their reaction to Steve was coming to Smash. The account posted a gif of Lloyd Christmas from Dumb and Dumber saying “so you’re saying there’s a chance.”

While this may seem to imply that Tetris wants a representative in Smash, the Tetris account soon followed this up in another post. “We’re just playing around, we’re already in Smash!”

The account then linked to a Spirit Event from 2019 celebrating Tetris 99 called Attack of the Tetriminos.

Nonetheless, having some form of Tetris representation in Smash through a stage could be really unique. Though, a fully playable Tetris block may be a bit too ridiculous as a fighter.

In addition, as Dexerto previously reported, Xbox France also commented on Steve coming to Smash. After retweeting the official announcement, the account was asked about Master Chief potentially joining the roster.

Xbox Game Studios
Xbox France also commented on Master Chief joining Smash.

“He’s still waiting for his invitation,” Xbox France replied, suggesting there’s a chance we’ll see yet another Microsoft rep in Fighters Pass Volume 2.

As for Steve, Smash creator Masahiro Sakurai will be showing off how he’s used along with his official release date in a live stream scheduled for October 3.

While there’s no telling what the future holds, it’s clear that many, many franchises want to see their characters duke it out alongside Mario, Link, Cloud, and now Steve in Smash.
