Pokemon Unite Tier List Ranking

With plenty of iconic characters to choose from, Trainers might be wondering which fighters in the Pokemon Unite roster are the best to play as – and which ones are the worst. That’s where our tier list comes into play.

Nintendo and TiMi Studios’ hit game Pokemon Unite is the first MOBA title in the iconic franchise, allowing Trainers to team up in teams of five to battle against others, collect Aeos energy, and score the most points before time is up.

There are currently 44 available Pokemon in the Switch and mobile title, and all of them fall into one of five unique roles: All-Rounders, Attackers, Defenders, Supporters, and Speedsters. Each role has its own benefits and advantages, so you’ll want to try them all out.

All Playable Pokemon in Pokemon Unite
Pokemon Unite had 20 characters available at launch, there are now 44.

Having said that, saving up for Unite Licenses to unlock new Pokemon for your team can be time-consuming (or costly, if you choose to pay for them instead), so making sure you choose the best ones is important, especially early on.

We’ve put together a tier list of every playable Pokemon in Unite as well as individual rankings for each role, to help you decide which fighters to use during the current patch update.

Tier Pokemon
S Blissey, Greninja, Lucario, Machamp, Greedent, Mew, Scizor, Zoroark
A Glaceon, Sylveon, Tsareena, Absol, Aegislash, Trevanent, Alolan Ninetales, Decidueye, Gardevoir, Delphox, Slowbro, Blastoise, Eldegoss, Azumarill, Gengar, Cinderace, Clefable

C Cramorant, Espeon, Wigglytuff, Garchomp, Snorlax, Zeraora, Dodrio

With the addition of Zoroark, there are currently 44 playable Pokemon in Unite, but this number is only going to increase as time progresses, so we’ll keep this ranking updated.

Below, you’ll find tier lists for each individual role in Pokemon Unite, as well as our favorite pick of the All-Rounders, Attackers, Defenders, Supporters, and Speedsters.

Pokemon Unite All-Rounders ranked

Tier Pokemon
S Lucario, Machamp, Scizor
A Tsareena, Aegislash, Azumarill
B Charizard, Dragonite, Tyranitar, Buzzwole
C Garchomp

All-Rounders are Pokemon that have a good balance between Offense and Endurance, making them reliable fighters and a solid choice for beginners or players who want to switch up their roles.

Our pick: Lucario is a very strong All-Rounder who can deal crazy damage like an Attacker while having equally high defense like a Defender. What’s more, is that Lucario is even able to keep up the pace with powerful Speedsters like Absol and Gengar in most situations. As such Lucario is the very definition of an All-Rounder – and a very powerful at that.

Pokemon Unite Attackers ranked

Tier Pokemon
S Greninja, Glaceon, Zoroark
A Cinderace, Gardevoir, Alolan Ninetails, Decidueye, Sylveon, Delphox
B Venusaur, Pikachu, Duraladon
C Cramorant, Espeon

Attackers are Pokemon that have very low Endurance but excel at dealing heavy ranged damage to opponents, making them perfect for taking on large crowds or defending goals.

Our pick: It might seem too obvious to choose fan-favorite Greninja, but it’s just currently that strong in Pokemon Unite. With speed to rival Speedsters thanks to its high-mobility dash moves and its evasive abilities like Smokescreen, Greninja really feels like the ultimate assassin. Though it starts off fragile, attentive players can make sure Greninja shines in the mid to late game.

Pokemon Unite Defenders ranked

Tier Pokemon
S Greedent
A Trevenant, Slowbro, Blastoise
B Mamoswine, Crustle
C Snorlax

Defenders are Pokemon that have high Endurance and can use moves to protect their allies and slow down opponents. You may know them as ‘tanks’ in other multiplayer games.

Our pick: Greedent is the top choice for a Defender thanks to its high versatility in a not-so-versatile class. Greedent’s unique use of Berries and its Covet ability can allow it to continuously heal HP, heal ally HP, increase its evasiveness, and deal massive damage with Belch. While Greedent can be hard to master, players who take the time to learn the ins and outs of this Pokemon will see a lot of success.

Pokemon Unite Supporters ranked

Tier Pokemon
S Blissey
A Eldegoss, Hoopa, Clefable
B Mr. Mime
C Wigglytuff

Supporters are Pokemon that focus on healing their allies and inflicting status conditions on opponents rather than dealing huge amounts of damage. Don’t dismiss them, as they can be essential in battle.

Our pick: Now that Pokemon Unite’s support roster has rounded out there’s a lot of variety among the role. The newest supporter, Clefable, definitely stands out in the current meta. Though it’s not the best in the hands of an amateur, the pick plays excellently when coordinating with allies.

This makes it not the best solo queue pick, but very worthwhile when playing with trusted teammates. Clefable was also buffed in the most recent patch update, providing even more reason to try it out.

Pokemon Unite Speedsters ranked

Tier Pokemon
S
A Absol, Gengar
B Talonflame
C Zeraora, Dodrio

Speedsters have high Mobility and Offense, meaning they prioritize making quick attacks and scoring points at the expense of HP and Endurance. They can also make a quick getaway if needed.

Our pick: As far as Speedsters go, they’ve all been nerfed pretty hard. Absol was gutted, and Gengar is received nerfs in the recent patch as well. Despite the nerfs, our pick of the patch would have to be Gengar, since the Pokemon is super oppressive when acquiring a lead.

They’ve made it harder to acquire a lead, but Gengar’s signature burst dash mechanic is still very much intact.

Pokemon Unite characters coming soon

The next fighter to be added to Pokemon Unite is Sableye, which will arrive on an estimated date of November 10, two weeks after the release of Zoroark.

That’s it for our Pokemon Unite tier lists and rankings. As always, these are our personal opinions based on our own time playing the game while also taking into account the community’s thoughts. Not everyone’s going to agree with us, and that’s okay!
