Pokemon Go September 2021 Oshawott Community Day: Exclusive moves & can Oshawott be Shiny?

Daniel Megarry

The next Pokemon Go Community Day in September 2021 features the Unova-region starter Oshawott, and if Trainers are lucky, they might even be able to get a Shiny Oshawott!

Community Days are once-a-month events that shine a light on one specific Pokemon. As well as spawn rates being boosted, there are Special Research tasks, bonuses like double XP, and rare moves to be unlocked.

Niantic have confirmed that the September Community Day headliner will be the Unova Pokemon, Oshawott! This will no doubt be a popular event for Trainers around the world.

As we’ve come to expect with these community day events, there will be event-exclusive moves for Samurott when you evolve Dewott (Oshawott’s evolution) during the event or up to 2 hours after the event has concluded.

Here’s everything you need to know to prepare for the September 2021 Community Day.

The beloved Oshawott is the September 2021 Community Day star.

September Community Day Oshawott exclusive moves

When you evolve any Dewott during the event and up to two hours after it ends, its evolution Samurott will know the event-exclusive move Hydro Cannon, which is a really great Charged Move to have.

Also, during and after the event, Samurott will now be able to learn a new Charged Move: Razor Shell. It remains to be seen whether this move is as good as (or better than) Hydro Cannon.

Can Oshawott be Shiny in Pokemon Go?

The good news is that Shiny Oshawott is currently available in Pokemon Go! This rare variation of the Unova starter actually makes its debut during this Community Day, so now’s a great time to find one.

Finding a Shiny Pokemon is entirely random and can be very time-consuming. You’ll simply have to encounter as many of them as you can. You can use Rainy Lure Modules and Incense to help with this.

September Community Day bonuses

There will be several bonuses available during the September Oshawott Community Day, some of which you can see below:

  • Incense will last for three hours during the event.
  • Lure Modules will last for three hours during the event.
  • Players can earn triple Catch XP during the event.
  • There will be increased Spawns during the event.

Pokemon Go September Community Day start date & time

Oshawatt’s Community Day takes place on September 19.

Pokemon Go’s September Community Day event will take place on Sunday, September 19th, 2021. Event features will be available from 11am to 5pm on each day, in each Trainer’s local time.

Unlike the previous Eevee Community Day, the September Community Day will not take place over the course of two days – it seems that was a special one-off occasion.

How to prepare for Community Days

Go players will need a lot of Pokeballs to catch plenty of Eevee.

If you’re going to take part in a Community Day, there are a few things you can do to prepare and get the most out of the event:

  • Purchase at least two Incense to use throughout the day.
  • Save any Lures you have as they will last for three hours during the event.
  • Stock up on LOTS of Poke Balls so you can catch plenty of the headline Pokemon.
  • Clear out your Pokemon Storage for all the catching you’ll be doing.
  • Purchase a ticket from the Shop to unlock the Community Day’s Special Research.
