The Ghost/Grass-type Phantump is making its way back into Pokemon Go as a Raid Boss, so here are all the ways you can catch and evolve the tree Pokemon, as well as whether or not it can be Shiny.

The Pokemon universe has plenty of spooky creatures in its repertoire, such as Phantump, the little tree Pokemon from Gen 6 which was introduced into Pokemon Go during the Halloween event back in 2021.

Now that it’s coming back to 1-Star Raid battles, trainers will have more chances of catching Phantump in the game and evolving it into the elder tree Pokemon, Trevenant.

How to get Phantump in Pokemon Go

Since its debut players have had many different methods to get Phantump in Pokemon Go. However, these are the ones currently available:

• As a wild encounter.
• As a hatch from 5 km Eggs (Adventure Sync).
• As a Tier 1 Raid Boss.

Previously players were able to hatch Phantump from 7 km Eggs or get it as a reward after completing Field Research Tasks such as “Evolve a Ghost-type Pokemon: Halloween 2023” or Special/Timed Research Tasks like “Showdown in the Shadows – Part 1”.

How to evolve Phantump into Trevenant in Pokemon Go

In order to evolve Phantump into Trevenant, players will need to trade it with a friend or feed it 200 Candy for this particular species. That’s a pretty high cost, so you’ll need to catch plenty of Phantump.

The Trading Method might be easier, but there are some restrictions. Trades need to be completed while in close proximity with a Friend, not remotely, and it will cost both players a decent chunk of Stardust.

Another drawback with the trading evolution method is that each Pokemon can only be traded once and can’t be sent back. This means you’ll need to find a Friend who’s willing to send a Phantump your way.

If you decide to go with the traditional Candy evolution method, remember you can use Pinap Berries when catching Phantump and go walking with it as your Buddy to earn some extra Candy.

Can Phantump be Shiny in Pokemon Go?

Yes, trainers can find Shiny Phantump in Pokemon Go, as it was added to the game during the Halloween 2023 Part 1 event.

As such, trainers can also collect Shiny Trevenant by evolving their Shiny Phantump by trading it or using 200 Candy. However, the odds of finding the new Shiny is 1 in 500, making it a pretty impressive achievement.
