You can enjoy GTA 5 and GTA Online on a number of different platforms but do the games feature crossplay? Here’s everything you need to know about cross-platform support for the Rockstar game on PlayStation, PC, and Xbox devices.

GTA 5 and GTA Online have remained immensely popular since they initially launched, with both new and returning players exploring the chaotic streets of Los Santos every day. Whether you’re experiencing GTA 5’s compelling main story, or are jumping into GTA Online with your friends, it’s possible to play both games on multiple platforms.

With so many options to play, however, you may want to know if the game has crossplay and cross-save features. It’s extremely handy to be able to carry your progress over between devices and play with friends no matter the platform after all!

So, here’s everything you need to know about whether or not GTA 5 and GTA Online have cross-platform features.

Crossplay is not available in GTA 5 or in its Online mode.

Is GTA 5 & GTA Online cross-platform?

Currently, cross-platform play is not in GTA 5 or GTA Online. Rockstar Games has not implemented crossplay for the title, despite it being quite a common occurrence in 2024.

As the game has been released on various consoles over time, each platform would likely need to undergo various changes to enable every player to have a fair shot at surviving online, regardless of their preferences.

Crossplay has not been announced for the GTA title thus far.

When will crossplay come to GTA 5 & GTA Online?

There is no information as to whether GTA 5 or its online counterpart will ever receive crossplay – whether that’s to play with friends on other platforms or to be able to utilize your online character throughout all of the consoles you own the game on.

Considering that we are so late in the game’s development cycle, and as the game is now nearly a decade old, implementation of crossplay at this stage seems unlikely.

And in addition to GTA 6 coming in 2025, it’s even more unlikely that Rockstar wouldn’t have any time to implement crossplay into GTA 5.
