Does Halo Infinite have crossplay and cross-progression? Here’s everything you need to know.

The free-to-play multiplayer portion of Halo Infinite launched on November 15 during the Xbox 20th Anniversary Celebration to great fanfare, and players are ready to don that Spartan armor once more. Yet, with Spartans suiting up on PC and across multiple Xbox consoles, many are asking if Halo Infinite features crossplay and cross-progression.

It was confirmed early in Halo Infinite’s development that that the game will support cross-saving features. This means  that players can jump on any of their linked accounts and retain their progress, but the crossplay question still remained for some some time.

Is Halo Infinite crossplay on Xbox & PC?

The good news is yes, Halo Infinite will support crossplay between all platforms. This means if you’re playing on PC, you’ll still be able to join your friends who are playing on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

While this is great news for casual players who just want to hop into some matches with their friends, it is causing quite a worry in the professional scene. That’s because the debate about the competitive viability of crossplay gaming in general continues to rage. However, this concern will only impact a small portion of the Halo community.

How cross-progression works

According to an update from Matt Booty, the head of Xbox Games Studios, Halo Infinite will have cross-progression enabled at launch. This means you’ll be able to take advantage of it right now. Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be able to enjoy the game across multiple consoles and PC without losing any progress.

While we don’t know if campaign progress will carry over between platforms, your multiplayer customization and progression will travel with you wherever you choose to play. This is especially huge seeing as the game’s multiplayer is free-to-play.
