DICE’s new General Manager Rebecka Coutaz had one of her first interviews since joining the and she took a hard stance on DICE’s future endeavors.

DICE is famous for its work on Battlefield, but it has also developed games such as Mirror’s Edge and Star Wars Battlefront. Both games have cult followings, but it does not look like we will be seeing new installments for either franchise any time soon.

Coutaz said in an interview with GamesIndustry that the studio has “no time” for non-Battlefield projects.

DICE puts all of its attention on Battlefield 2042

After a disappointing launch for Battlefield 2042, Coutaz believes that the team can get back on track and said, “I want the team to be really proud about Battlefield 2042. That is what they are chasing and they have their heart and passion there.”

Battlefield 2042 Season 1 went live on June 9 and the update notably added a new map titled Exposure and a Battle Pass. Coutaz stated, “DICE has spent over six months fixing and improving the game to the point where it felt confident to launch its first season of live content in early June.”

Exposure has been well received by the community and Coutaz responded by saying, “the players are enjoying our map and the content that we have provided, so it’s a win for us and it makes us feel better.”

Venture Beat journalist Jeff Grubb alleged on June 8 that Battefield 2042 development team had entered “abandon ship” mode and only a “skeleton crew” remains on board for the remaining content updates.

EA denied the claim and Coutaz’s statements emphasize DICE’s commitment to Battlefield 2042. The General Manager added, “We want DICE to be the number one spot for first-person shooter games in Europe, and one of the powerhouses in the world. It’s a fabulous team. We’re going to make magic together.”

DICE still has a long way to go if the studio wants to salvage Battlefield 2042, but Coutaz made some very optimistic remarks regarding the future of Battlefield.
