Devil May Cry 3 producer Matt Walker has revealed he wishes Capcom put the Master Sword from The Legend of Zelda series on the Switch port of the game.

In a video detailing some new features coming to the Switch version of the game, Walker expressed how he hoped fans of the franchise enjoyed how they announced new features to play the game with short video updates.

“The social guys really wanted us to put a personal touch on it,” he explained. “It was really fun to seek out the different reactions we’d get online and to see all the guessing that people had.”

As it turns out, one of Walker’s favorite comments suggested Capcom had put Link’s Master Sword in Devil May Cry 3.

“I saw that and I thought, ‘I really wish we did that now,’” he added. “Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen this time. But, we hope that you guys really enjoy the different features that we’ve decided to add in here.”

While it’s unfortunate that the game won’t feature the Master Sword, there’s no telling if there are any other unique items that Walker declined to mention.

In Zelda lore, the Master Sword is a mythical weapon wielded by series protagonist Link to defeat the evil Ganon.

Amusingly, the weapons isn’t exclusive to the Zelda series. It’s has also appeared in the Switch port of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim; players can unlock the sword by either finding it in a treasure chest or by scanning a Legend of Zelda amiibo.

Hopefully, we can see Dante and Link in the same game if the Capcom icon is eventually added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

The Master Sword is in Skyrim on Switch.

As Dexerto previously reported, Devil May Cry V voice actor Brian Hanford seemingly claimed that Dante will be coming to Smash during an interview on the AMA podcast.

Until then, fans can only hope that we eventually see a crossover between these two beloved franchises.

Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition releases for Nintendo Switch February 20, 2020.
