A Plague Tale: Requiem finally has a 2022 release date, alongside extended gameplay footage and a collector’s edition.

Released in 2019, the original A Plague Tale: Innocence took many gamers off-guard with its inventive mechanics and surprisingly heartwarming and deep narrative. The success of the game meant that a worthy successor absolutely had to go into the pipeline and now that dream is nearly a reality with A Plague Tale: Requiem.

Asobo Studio and Focus Entertainment have finally been able to announce when fans of the game, and newcomers to the story, will be able to sink their teeth into the sequel.

A Plague Tale: Requiem release date confirmed

In a press release, Asobo revealed that A Plague Tale: Requiem will be released on October 18, 2022, and it will be available on multiple platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

As well as new information and gameplay footage, we’ve also learned that the devs are “working with NVIDIA to add NVIDIA RTX features to ” and there will also be an enticing collector’s edition for die-hard players to acquire as well.

Based on previous exposure to the game, we knew there was going to be even more peril for Amicia and Hugo to overcome with extra hoards of terrifying rats.

A Plague Tale: Requiem looks to be a huge step up graphically from Innocence, and the duo will have even more tools and weapons to use.

Just as it looked like we were going to be left wanting in the rat department, during the gameplay footage, we bear witness to a heart-pounding final sequence in which our heroes are faced with a rat army unlike anything seen before.

Xbox gamers will be pleased to know as the point was reiterated by Asobo Studio and Focus Entertainment that A Plague Tale: Requiem will be coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one, which is great news for subscribers.

We expect more insight into what the game holds between now and its October 18, 2022, release date.
