Epic Games have announced the release date and time for the v5.41 game update in Fortnite Battle Royale.

The newest, and possibly last game update of Season 5 is set to go live on September 18 at 1 AM PT / 4 AM ET / 8 PM BST. The update will require downtime, which means that in-game matchmaking should be disabled about 20-25 minutes prior to the launch time.

The announcement for the new update came via a post on the official Fortnite Twitter page on September 17.

Since the patch notes will not be released until the update goes live, there is no way to know for sure what it contains. However, one new addition that has been confirmed is the all-new ‘Port-a-Fortress’ item, which appeared in the in-game announcement screen on September 16.

As alluded to in the tweet above, this new Legendary item is an enhanced version of the current ‘Port-a-Fort,’ as it allows players to instantly build a huge, castle-like structure in seconds.

Additionally, this update will bring the end to the Getaway Limited Time Mode, meaning that players will have until the downtime to try and complete the mode’s exclusive challenges, which are listed below for your convenience:

  • Play 10 matches of The Getaway – Get 5,000 XP
  • Do 500 damage to Jewel carrying opponents – Unlock the Suited Up Spray
  • Pick up a Jewel in 5 different matches of The Getaway LTM – Unlock the Cash Flow Contrail
  • Complete all 3 Challenges – Unlock the Crowbar Pickaxe

With this mode expiring, there is a chance the Epic Games will unveil a brand new LTM in its place. Whether or not that will be the case will become clear once the patch notes are released.

With Season 5 expected to end on September 25, this will very likely be the last major update rolled out by Epic Games before then.

Thus, it is unlikely for any major in-game adjustments or map changes to be implemented before then, although some new cosmetic items could be added to fill up the Item Shop until next week.
