What are the differences between Fortnite’s Suppressed Assault Rifle and SCAR? Full auto comparison, DPS and more

If you’re still unsure what the differences between the SCAR and Suppressed Assault Rifle in Fortnite Battle Royale are, one helpful Reddit user has you covered!

The all-new Suppressed Assault Rifle was added to the game as part of the V5.40 Content Update on September 11, and players immediately noticed the similarities between it and the normal SCAR.

Technically speaking, the “SCAR” is just the epic and legendary variant of the standard Assault Rifle, with the appearance of a SCAR, and the Suppressed Assault Rifle looks virtually identical, but with a silencer attached.

The weapons do perform differently, though, as GizmoSlipTV displayed in a side-by-side comparison video that also shows how they stack up against the Suppressed Pistol.

The standard, non-suppressed, version of the weapon provides better damage per second (DPS) at close range and the “bloom” is more accurate when firing full auto. It can also achieve a respectable 59 DPS when tap firing.

As GizmoSlip explains, the Suppressed Assault Rifle actually provides better long range DPS when tap firing at an impressive 70 DPS but it needs to be fired in five round bursts at short range because the bloom becomes almost impossible to control.

GizmoSlip’s findings seem to confirm the feeling that most players have been getting while using the new Suppressed Assault Rifle – it’s good, but the original SCAR is still more powerful in terms of damage and ease of use.

However, the new weapon is extremely strong in the hands of players that are good at using the Fortnite’s first shot accuracy (FSA) mechanic to accurately tap fire opponents at long range.

Add the bonus of the it being almost impossible for players to work out where they are being shot from and the Suppressed Assault Rifle suddenly becomes a great deal more appealing for skilled players.
