Fortnite Battle Royale players have  uncovered an issue with the game’s current hitboxes, as the shotgun spread doesn't appear to be working as it should.

Epic Games’ battle royale title is one of the most popular games in the world, as it has had rip-roaring success since its release. Yet, that doesn't mean it is perfect and without issue. Players regularly complain about unbalancing problems, be that with vehicles like the Baller, or weapons such as the recently re-released Drum Gun.

However, a new problem appears to be at hand as the game’s shotguns appear to be hitting targets outside of where they are supposed to do damage.

Shotguns are an extremely valuable asset in Fortnite Battle Royale.

Anyone who has played Fortnite Battle Royale knows that having a shotgun, of some kind, in their loadout is a big step forward in the hopes of picking up a victory royale. Yet, they are currently 'broken', some would suggest.

In a video posted to the FortniteCompetitive subreddit, user TTV-XeroXBL, demonstrated just how ‘broken’ the weapon spread currently is. When aiming down sight, the shotgun spread is only meant to hit inside the on-screen crosshair, giving a tightly compacted spread instead of being wild and hitting all over the place.

Instead, as TTV-XeroXBL showed, even though the weapon is purposely aimed above their friends head, it still deals 86 damage - a pretty perfect hit for the rare variant of the Combat Shotgun. It’s not exactly one-off error either, as the video showed that the player was able to pull-off three consecutive 86 damage shots with the same spread.

Will Epic make a change?

Now, having the correct weapon spread and amount of damage has been an issue in Fortnite Battle Royale for some time, even though Epic have done their best with regular updates to try and rectify the errors. However, not even their tireless work can get everything sorted.

It remains to be seen if the game’s developers pick up on the Reddit post and if it does, indeed, prompt them into making a change.
