The July 12 running of Friday Fortnite will be the fifth since the series was brought back in May from its nearly one-year absence. 

While the first four weeks were funded by donations from FaZe Clan and YouTuber Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson, KEEMSTAR announced that week five was being sponsored by popular gaming equipment company HYPERX.

When does week five of Friday Fortnite begin?

The next running of Friday Fortnite is set to take place on Friday, July 12, starting at is usual time of 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET / 9 PM BST.

UMG will be hosting a centralized livestream for the tournament on their Twitch channel, which we’ve included below for your convenience. In addition, the individual streams for some of the competing players have been included in the ADDITIONAL STREAMS section below.

Who is playing in week five of Friday Fortnite?

As is pretty much the case every time around, this week’s Friday Fortnite will feature some of the biggest names in the online gaming community, including superstar streamers, YouTubers, and professional players.

Expected to participate are the likes of NICKMERCS, Myth, Dr Disrespect, and other prominent content creators, alongside pro Fortnite players from Ghost Gaming, FaZe Clan, 100 Thieves, and more. 


UPDATE: Despite being listed as playing with FaZe Clan’s Sway, Ninja will not be competing this week due to conflicts with his flight schedule.


In addition, this week’s competition will see the Friday Fortnite debut of JuJu Smith-Schuster, the popular NFL wide-receiver who plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and is also a member of FaZe Clan.

What is the Friday Fortnite format?

Friday Fortnite is a double elimination tournament featuring 16 duos competing against each other for the ultimate prize. 

Although custom games are very much available in Fortnite Battle Royale, this competition opts to go with a format that involves public matches.

In each round, all of the teams matched up in the bracket will queue into a Squads lobby together, where they will then try and get as many eliminations as possible.

After two matches, the team with the most eliminations will advance to the next round. Players who try and sabotage their opponents in-game could potentially face disqualification.

Examples of sabotage include but are not limited to the following:

  • Breaking or weakening opponent’s built or non built structures or cover by any means.
  • Causing opponents to miss shots or miss opportunities for advancing their scores in any way shape or form.
  • Building in front of your opponent.
  • Boogie Bombing your opponent.
  • The use of a boogie bomb on your opponent at any point in the game are subject to disqualification
