How to ride Fortnite’s Pirate Cannon balls

Fortnite players have found a way to ride cannonballs in Season 8 to rotate around the map or dropin on enemy players.

The Pirate Cannons were added to the game following the release of the V8.0 update, which signaled the start of Fortnite Season 8 which made some massive changes to the map and weapon balancing.

With the cannons, players are able to shoot cannonballs at other players and structures, while also being able to climb into the cannon and fire themselves out – traveling great height and distances in the progress. Yet, some are using it to put a new twist on an old favorite – by using the cannon to travel a little differently.

INVERSEThe Pirate Cannons can found all over the Fortnite map – and can deal out some serious damage.

In a post to the FortniteBR subreddit, user KrillinIsASaiyan demonstrated how, with a bit of timing and patience, players can ride the cannonballs across the map in the same way they were able to ride RPG rockets.

Like rocket riding, it takes people and time to work. Just find a cannon – which has been made easy with our locations map, line up a shot and jump just as the cannonball takes off and you’ll be whisked away to a new part of the map.

While the method may seem a little unnecessary considering you can fire yourselves straight out of a cannon, cannonball riding has one added advantage – you are able to fire weapons during your travels.

There is also no small cooldown period after you’ve landed from riding a cannonball across the sky. This means you aren’t vulnerable for a few seconds in case you land near other players like you would be by using the cannon directly.

Whether or not cannonball riding become a part of the game’s meta remains to be seen, but if we remember anything from rocket riding it’s that players are sure to come up with some incredible highlight plays in the near future.
