The third and final v7.10 Content Update for Fortnite Battle Royale went live on January 8, introducing a number of cool changes and new items like the Suppressed Sniper Rifle!

A significant amount of information relating to the Content Update had already been revealed ahead of time, giving us a good idea of what to expect. Now that the patch notes have been released, we know even more!

Suppressed Sniper Rifle

The game’s first silent sniper was originally announced in the in-game news section on January 7.

The description for the Suppressed Sniper Rifle is as follows: “Trade power for stealth with the Suppressed Sniper Rifle. Drop in now and sneak up on your enemies!”

Now that the notes are live, we can share all of the relevant statistics and information about the new weapon:

Suppressed Sniper Rifle added.

• Available in Epic and Legendary variants.
• Can be found from chests, floor loot, Vending Machines, and Supply Drops.
• A single shot, scoped sniper rifle.
• The suppressor makes for a quieter shot, trading stealth for power.
  • Deals 100/105 base damage

Dual Pistols

Calling the Dual Pistols ‘new’ might be a stretch, as they were first introduced way back in Season 4 and were only removed during Season 6.

However, the fact that Eric Williamson, the Design Lead for Fortnite, confirmed they were making a return made us think that they would have undergone some major adjustments.

However, the patch notes simply refer to them being ‘unvaulted’. The Dual Pistols, while fun to use at times, never really found their niche and were rarely used. It will interesting to see if anything has changed that wasn’t included in the notes.

Skins and cosmetics

New skins and cosmetic items are a given with just about every Fortnite update, so don’t expect this one to be any different. We’ll keep you updated once we’ve had a chance to check everything out.

X-4 Stormwing, Dynamite and Boom Box changes

It’s usually hard to know exactly what to expect when it comes to balancing changes, but Eric Williamson gave us a pretty good idea on Twitter.

“Balance adjustments coming with 7.10 content update: tweaks to Boom Box, X-4 Stormwing, and Dynamite,” he said.

Now, we can confirm that Dynamite’s drop rate has been adjusted, as has the Boom Box’s. The Boom Box has also undergone some over minor changes, while the Stormwing has seen a number of balancing improvements.

Vaulted Items

Eric Williamson confirmed on Reddit that the Six Shooter would be vaulted soon, and the Fortnite team has delivered on that promise.

Surprisingly, the Uncommon, Common and Rare variants of the Burst Assault Rifle have also been sent to the vault.

With the Burst Assault Rifles being one some of the most utilised weapons in the game, it will be interesting to see how the community reacts to the loss of the three variants.

LIMITED TIME MODES

WEAPONS + ITEMS

• Six Shooter has been vaulted.
• The following variants of the Burst Assault Rifle have been vaulted:
  • Uncommon, Common, Rare
• Dual Pistols have been unvaulted.
• Dynamite drop rate reduced by 40%.
• Boom Box adjustments:
  • Drop rate reduced by 33%.
  • Health reduced from 600 to 400.
  • Duration reduced from 25 seconds to 18 seconds.

GAMEPLAY

• X-4 Stormwing adjustments:
  • The knockback a player receives after being hit by a Stormwing has been decreased by 70%.
  • Damage done to the Stormwing from colliding with structures has been increased by 50%.
    • Impact damage reduction while boosting through structures reduced from 50% to 25%
  • Increased the spread of the Stormwing machine gun by 75%.
  • Stormwing spawn chance has been decreased to 80% from 100%.
• Supply Drop health has been reduced to 250/500/750 (Solo/Duo/Squad).

Bug Fixes

• The X-4 Stormwing is no longer able to fly above the max build limit.

This is an early release so you may experience client crashes, loss of progress, or other unexpected errors.
