Epic Games have officially released the v10.40.1 update for Fortnite Battle Royale, with the patch available for download on PC, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
Following the massive v10.40 update that was released during the week prior, Epic have pushed out a much more minor update, which isn't expected to contain any major changes.
That said, there are still some things worth noting about v10.40.1, and you can find the full patch notes below.
Epic Games officially confirmed the Season 10 Overtime event, which will be called the 'Out of Time Missions', giving players some end-of-season rewards including XP to help bump up your ranks and earn stars for your Battle Pass, brand new cosmetics and a special loading screen to commemorate the popular battle royale title's tenth season.
The Out of Time Missions will be available from Tuesday, October 8 until Sunday, October 13, and while developers Epic Games refrained from revealing the challenges players will be asked to complete, data miners have already given us a sneak peek at what we can expect.
Out of Time
We’re heading into overtime… before we’re out of time. Complete the objectives in the Out of Time Overtime Mission for end-of-Season rewards that include XP, cosmetics, and a commemorative Loading Screen.
Out of Time will begin on Tuesday, October 8.
With the Overtime challenges launching in what is now Week 11 of Fortnite's Season 10, Epic Games have now confirmed that the season has been extended by one week, writing in the patch notes players "may be almost out of time, but we're not out just yet."
Season 11 is now scheduled to kick off during the week beginning October 14, although the official release date has yet to be revealed.
Fans of the popular battle royale game will be able to get their hands on a weapon that was previously removed from the game, with the developers reintroducing the Flint-Knock pistol to the loot pool in the v10.40.1 update.
The Flint-Knock was originally added to Fortnite back in March 2019, and deals 86/90 damage to opponents from close range, although there is a "significant damage falloff" the further away you are from an enemy. The weapon knocks back the shooter when fired, and sends those who are hit with it flying if they are in close proximity to the gun when shot. You can crouch to avoid the affects of the pistol should you not want want go bouncing away when you fire it.
The Fortnite v10.40.1 update also brings changes to the Zone Wars LTM, bug fixes which should address issues with players trying to queue into The Combine, and have also re-enabled the mode for iOS and Android. You can read the remaining patch notes below.
