There have been a wide selection of weird and wonderful features added to the battle royale game since it first released in September, 2017, and the game’s developer doesn’t seem to show any signs of slowing down.

Dataminer @HYPEX first claimed to have found ‘Shadow Bomb’ in Fortnite’s data files on April 10, as seen below. There was no indication of what the item will look like at the time, but two pieces of audio for the possible upcoming addition did surface.

Files that were added in Fortnite’s v8.30 content update also state players will soon have to: ‘Use a Shadow Bomb in different matches,” according to HYPEX. For those who are not familiar with Fortnite’s weekly challenges, this is very much the type of description that has been used in the past.

Two audio files were also leaked by @FNBRHQ, which they expect to be used for the new item. These can be found in the clips below.

First look at the Shadow Bomb

The first image surfaced online of the ‘Shadow Bomb’ on April 25, posted to Twitter by @HyperX. As seen below, it looks as if it could be more of a tactical grenade, as opposed to suggestions that they could work like Hop Rocks from Season 4.

Whether or not the item will be coming soon, or added to a future set of challenges, is unknown at this time.

There has been no confirmation from Epic Games that suggests if this leak is accurate as of yet, but do keep your eyes peeled on the ‘coming soon’ feed in-game. Shadow Bombs could appear any time soon.
