Epic Games might have sent their controversial X-4 Stormwing planes to the vault at the beginning of Fortnite Season 8, but a new leak suggests they won’t be gone for too long.

The attack planes, which were first added to the battle royale game mode at the start of Season 7, turned out to be one of the most polarizing additions to date after constant complaints from the online community.

After several nerfs and amendments made to the flying vehicles, though, Epic decided to remove them completely. However, we might see them flying over our heads once again pretty soon – if potentially leaked information is to be believed.

Epic GamesThe X-4 Stormwing featured heavily in Fortnite Season 7’s promotional material at launch – on December 6, 2018.

New ‘leaked’ information has been posted to the Fortnite BR subreddit, featuring what seems to be new audio files for the X-4 Stormwing.

The post below includes mostly ‘fuel out’ noises, which would give the travelling feature a new dynamic. In the case that these files are real, it could mean the return of attack planes to Fortnite in the near future – or, at least that’s what members of the game’s online community are speculating.

Some Reddit users have expressed their concerns with the idea of bringing the vehicle back, with one user saying “they better not add planes again dammit.”

However, the leak has had a largely positive response at the time of writing, and fans claim to have seen a new fuel bar for the planes when using them in Fortnite Creative. Whether or not they will be brought back to the game fully or as a limited time mode (LTM) remains to be seen.
