Fortnite Battle Royale players will soon be treated to a brand new 'Galileo' event at Risky Reels in Chapter 2, as data miners have revealed a whole host of upcoming content ahead of schedule and some things have even changed already in-game.

The popular landing spot has been in and out of the game for quite some time, having been replaced in Season 7 by The Block to host community creations – much to the outrage of fans who regularly used to land there.

However, after making its triumphant return in the debut season of Chapter 2, bringing back the huge drive-in cinema screen and all of the goodies that come with it, it now looks like an event is on the cards for the location.

Risky Reels finally made its comeback in the game's newest chapter.

As seasoned veterans of the battle royale game will know by know, themed events and map changes always tend to excite the game's online community.

Cast your mind back to Fortnite Season 10 when Rift Beacons were causing huge shifts in the island's landscape, with a number of popular landing spots given new looks, and that sort of excitement looks all but certain to be coming to Risky as well.

For those who would like to know what it's going to look like before it has been changed in-game, let's take a look at all of the leaks that have appeared so far for the event – which has been given the codename 'Galileo' in the game's files – as well as the clues that have already dropped in-game.

Fortnite Risky Reels event leaked

When will it start?

The first time these leaks came to light regarding a Risky Reels event was on November 20, where data miners Lucas7yoshi and HYPEX discovered different details about what to expect. First off, the timing of it all.

There's no doubt that Epic have a lot in store for fans this Christmas time, lining up a holiday themed event of their own which will likely bring a whole host of new festive challenges to the title. However, Lucas7yoshi claims a video will play on the big screen for two minutes and end on January 1, 2020 – meaning that this could very well be Fortnite's way of welcoming in the New Year.

What's going to happen?

Aside from something apparently being readied to play on the huge cinema screen at Risky Reels, HYPEX revealed some changes to the layout for the location during the event, showing that features such as vehicles and other items will move around at some stage.

There appears to be different phases to the displacement of the cars, for example, as seen below. They also found some potential evidence for trucks arriving on the scene – but will it be for construction?

That's not all, either. It has also been discovered that a number of new posters will be dotted around, potentially to promote the event in-game and encourage players to visit that part of the map.

This was found by Lucas7yoshi – who promises to reveal any footage to be shown during the event, should they find it ahead of time.

New-look Risky Reels leaked

Following the initial leaks, prominent data miner was able to capture in-game footage of what Risky will look like after the next two phases of map changes. According to the video, large construction vehicles will be moved into the POI in preparation for some digging.

A higher quality of Risky Reels has also been leaked ahead of the event, too, courtesy of Lucas7yoshi. The leaker's post on December 4, over two weeks after the event was first revealed, shows that more than one of these trucks will feature.

Has anything changed in-game? (Updated December 5)

It's worth noting that, at least at the time of writing, this Risky Reels event has not been confirmed by Epic Games in any shape or form.

While we would usually advise our readers to take these leaks with a pinch of salt, some players have noticed some slight tweaks in-game already. HYPEX shared a few images to their Twitter account on December 4, as seen below.

The trucks have started to appear near Risky Reels already.

So, what can we see here? Well, the leaked trucks are certainly on the move and headed for Risky Reels, while the layout is already starting to change at the location as well.

Risky Reels might not look like this for much longer. Some things are already being cleared out for the truck's arrival.

When the first leaks surfaced it was unclear as to whether or not the trucks would be headed to Risky Reels any time soon, but their presence at nearby destinations all but confirms the event is taking place.

Surely now, it will build momentum as we approach the festive season and potentially reach its climax for the New Year celebrations. Something is happening here – and soon.
