Fortnite: Epic Games respond to Ice Legion zombies backlash with spawn rate hotfix

Following complaints from the Fortnite community about the prevalence of the new ‘Ice Legion’ zombies, Epic Games has announced a drastic change to their spawn rates.

Much like the Fortnitemares event back in October, the Ice Storm event in Fortnite has brought along a seasonal variant of zombies that occur during normal matches.

Just as was the case during the previous event, the community was not happy about their inclusion and spoke out against them almost immediately.

In almost a complete mirroring of the Fortnitemares event, Epic has now responded to the backlash by adjusting the spawn rates of the Ice Legion.

While the spawn rate of the Legion has been increased in the early game, that rate will now decrease as the game progresses, which should result in an overall reduction in the appearance of the zombies.

Additionally, they have increased the spawn rate of the Golden Brutes by 100%, giving players a much better chance of finishing up the trick Ice Storm challenge after the hotfix.

The appearance of Zombies in Fortnite once again has caused many of the game’s top content creators, including the likes of former Call of Duty caster Jack ‘CouRage’ Dunlop, to stop playing the game altogether.

Time will tell whether these changes will be enough for CouRage and others to change their stance and go back to streaming the game.

In the meantime, many of them have joined Jaryd ‘Summit1g’ Lazar in taking part in the new craze on Twitch that is Sea of Thieves
