Fortnite Chapter 2 is approaching a week old, and the majority of the community appears to be happy with the state of Epic Games’ battle royale, at least following ten seasons on the original map.

As is to be expected when such a monumental change is made, a number of bugs and glitches have emerged. You can track all monitored bugs via the Fortnite Trello board. However, one new glitch has come to light, and quickly baffled the community.

Epic GamesChapter 2 brings a wealth of new content, including boats.

A Reddit user posted their findings to the official subreddit, and it has quickly amassed over 6,000 upvotes, as community members try and draw attention to the crazy glitch.

The post, captioned “So hiding in a dumpster turned me into a dementor?” shows the player approach a dustbin on the map, and make use of the new ‘Hide’ mechanic.

Next time they jump out of the bin, they are transformed into a ghost-like entity, reminiscent of the way ‘Shadow Stones’ used to impact players. However, the strangeness does not stop there, as the player floats higher and higher above the map, to the point where the majority of it becomes visible.

It’s fair to say players were left confused by the bug, with many appreciating the comparison to the dementors from the Harry Potter series.

One Reddit user even joked that “it wouldn’t be Fortnite if there wasn’t a new bug to send people flying”, while another said that it “Might be what you turn into when going into the dumpster to help hide your avatar from view”.

Epic Games are yet to respond to the issue but, given the severity of how it can impact on matches, it’s fairly likely we’ll see them address the problem in a patch soon.

The next update is expected on October 22, although this will likely only be a content update, so may not include any bug fixes. Stay tuned to Dexerto to follow all the latest news and leaks regarding Fortnite Chapter 2.
