UPDATE (June 28th, 10:55 AM EST): Epic Games announced via Reddit that they will be making ‘major improvements’ to their matchmaking service to help bring back Playground Mode, and are hoping that it will go live ‘later today’ (Thursday, June 28th.)

“Heya folks,
Yesterday we launched the Playground LTM. So many of you rushed in to create and play that our matchmaking service fell over. We’ve since separated the Playground matchmaker from the one that affects the default modes and made large improvements to assist with the number of players. We plan to push these changes and improvements live later today to bring the Playground LTM back online. We’ll give you more updates and a timeline as soon as we have one.
Thanks.”

There was extra hype surrounding the v4.5 update in Fortnite on June 27th, as it was to launch the highly anticipating Playground Limited Time Mode.

However, much to the chagrin of the game’s vast player-base, the LTM was disabled merely hours after its release due to issues in matchmaking services.

While it initially seemed that the delay was not going to be for too long, it now appears that players will have to wait much longer before they can try out the Playground.

Epic Games announced on June 27th via Twitter and Reddit that the new mode was to remain disabled through the night as their team worked through some of the issues.

We know you want to get back out to the Playground LTM. We’ve got multiple teams working to get this mode back into your hands so you can let your imaginations run wild.  We want to inform you that the Playground LTM will remain closed for repairs for the night. We’ll have more information available tomorrow.

While “for the night” is a relatively ambiguous estimated period of time, this likely means that the new LTM will be available for players to enjoy sometime during June 28th.

However, queue times could potentially become rather long during the early moments of its reinstatement, especially if it is enabled during a time of the day when there are a lot of players online.

Launched alongside the v4.5 update early on June 27th, the Playground LTM offers players the chance to play alongside their friends and do whatevery they like in a private, low-pressure environment with the full Fortnite map at their disposal.

For full details on the new mode, you can read its description as provided by Epic Games in the v4.5 patch notes here.

Ali-A reveals unreleased Fortnite skin haunting Weeping Woods

Popular Fortnite YouTuber Ali-A has shown that the previously leaked Madcap skin looks to be coming soon as a mobile glitch has revealed a strange character ‘haunting’ Weeping Woods.

Across the different Fortnite seasons and updates, Epic Games have released a vast amount of cosmetics – with fans picking out their favorites and donning them in-game.

Typically, these skins are leaked ahead of time as leakers are able to decrypt games files that are added to the mix with each new update and patch. Some of these skins never see the light of day, or are held back for quite a while, despite being leaked following a patch.

One of the skins that falls into this category is the Madcap – a glowing, purple, Mushroom-themed skin. It was leaked quite a while back, and while it hasn’t been available just yet, it looks like it will be pretty soon.

Each new Fortnite update leaks a whole host of skins.

Popular YouTuber Ali-A pointed out that some Fortnite mobile players on Android had spotted the outline of a skin sitting around in Weeping Woods.

The character that seems to be ‘haunting’ the POI, is stood under a tree with their arms crossed. However, it’s not colorful. Instead, it’s a blacked-out silhouette – almost as if it’s going to be added soon, but is showing up as a visual glitch in-game.

Ali-A noted that the character is most definitely Madcap because of the shape of the head, and given that he’s hanging around Weeping Woods, there might be a challenge or quest line involved with unlocking the skin.

Even though the YouTuber’s speculation seems pretty spot on, there’s no telling if he’s right just yet because Epic Games hasn’t announced anything.

It could very well be that, as Fortnitemares unfolds, the skin will finally be available through the item shop and there are also challenges in Weeping Woods to unlock skin styles. Though, we’ll just have to wait and see.
