Epic Games Announce $8 Million Fortnite Summer Skirmish Series

Fortnite developer Epic Games has announced its first official developer-supported esports tournament ‘Summer Skirmish’ – with $8 Million in prize money up for grabs.

It comes as $100 million in total is to be invested for Fortnite esports prize pools direct from Epic Games, for the 2018-19 season, and the previous announcement of the Fortnite World Cup 2019.

The Summer Skirmish will begin with a $250,000 duos tournament on the weekend of July 13 – 15, and will be an invitational for community creators and “players who have demonstrated their competitive prowess.

We are excited to announce that this summer Epic Games will host the Summer Skirmish series. We’re kicking off an 8-week series of competitions where we’ll be awarding $8,000,000 in prize money. The events start this weekend with a $250,000 Duos competition.  Participants will be made up of community creators and Fortnite players who have demonstrated their competitive prowess. The format and competitors may change from week-to-week, so stay on your toes!
