Fortnite’s rocket launch event happened on the 30th of June, and the map is already seeing changes as a result.
The rocket tore a massive hole in the sky above the map, but a few areas on the ground also saw some changes in the aftermath.
Fans were anticipating what the rocket could do ever since a piece of a thruster was found near Anarchy Acres at the beginning of Season 4.
Players logged in before 1:30 PM EST for a chance to witness the rocket launch in person, with a general ceasefire taking place so everyone could watch the event unfold. One player did not get the memo and set the single game kills record during the launch, however.
Shortly after launch, a glowing orb appeared near Lonely Lodge. Although no one is quite sure what the orb is, most theories involve it being a portal or a time warp.
Those theories now look a little more sound as the orb has begun to expand, taking on a similar appearance to the crack in the sky.
YouTuber Ali-A was one of the first to notice the growing orb.
It's only been 1 day since the Rocket caused a fracture in Fortnite and already it's expanding.— Ali-A (@OMGitsAliA) July 1, 2018

The orb is even doing damage to the map, destroying the sign that once hung over Lonely Lodge.
Some are claiming that the crack in the sky is also expanding, but there is no hard evidence to suggest that at this time.
However, it is reasonable to expect the orb will continue to alter the map throughout the remainder of Season 4, leading up to the reveal of Season 5 and hinting at what is to come.
